THE 6TH DOCTORAL DISSERTATION DEFENSE WAS HELD AT INTERNATIONAL VIZYON UNIVERSITY

Esra Baki, a student in the Clinical Psychology PhD Program at International Vizyon University, has successfully completed her dissertation defense and earned the academic title of “Doctor.”

With her dissertation titled “The Role of Emotion Regulation Difficulties in the Relationship Between Childhood Traumas, Depressive Symptoms, and Self-Harming Behavior Among University Students,” Baki approached significant psychological processes affecting young individuals' mental health from a scientific perspective.

Her research explored the impact of childhood traumas on depressive symptoms and self-harming behaviors among university students, and it examined in detail the mediating role of emotion regulation difficulties in this relationship.

Esra Baki’s doctoral defense was conducted before a jury composed of distinguished academics in the field. The dissertation committee was as follows:

Following a unanimous decision by the committee, Baki was awarded the doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.

Who is Esra Baki?

Born in 1996 in Gostivar, Esra Baki completed her primary education at Birlik Primary School and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Primary School, and her secondary education at BMSL Municipal Vocational Health High School.

In 2015, she enrolled in the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department at International Vizyon University and graduated with her bachelor's degree in 2019.

The same year, she began her master's studies in the same department. She successfully defended her thesis titled “The Psychological Effects of the Pandemic and Stress on Individuals and Coping Strategies” in 2020, graduating as the top student in her cohort.

In 2021, she began her doctoral studies in the Clinical Psychology program and currently works as a research assistant in the university’s Department of Psychology. She continues her professional development by participating in numerous seminars, trainings, and therapy workshops.
